TOOLS FOR LIFE

This program brings together girls 15 -25 from diverse backgrounds to tackle complex, community based projects built by girls themselves. Over 4 sessions by applying math, science, carpentry and other media, projects from the Tools for Life program challenge girls to put their skills to work on product-based projects that will live in the world for years to come.

This program also puts girls in a position of leadership and activism, voicing their ideas in public arenas and with real clients. We work hard to support the girls with supplementary discussions and lessons related to career pathways, college applications, how to apply for a job or put together a CV, and more. We also hold a safe space for intimate conversations about identity, confidence, and navigating the world as a young woman.

The Ladder Project
The Old Redruth Library

Workshop Info

The Ladder have worked for the past year with Cornwall Council to bring the old Redruth Library back into use as a cultural and creative hub. Situated in a Heritage Action Zone their plan is to make the library the heart of an international festival. Girls Assemble have been given a brief to create seating and planters for the outside space that will become a community hub with permaculture planting, a café and all round good vibes.

Lead by female facilitators, you will learn to use a variety of power tools and learn to build the designs from scratch. We offer a safe feminist space and are a relaxed and friendly team. All skill levels are welcome.
